What is a Mezzanine Floor?

A mezzanine floor is a single freestanding structure built between two main floors, or the floor and ceiling of a building. It usually covers a specific area, rather than extending over an entire space, although this can also be achieved if required.

They are installed to utilise the unused vertical space and provide additional storage space above existing storage areas.

They are designed bespoke, and are tailored to the needs of your business.

Benefits of a Mezzanine Floor

The main benefits of a mezzanine floor are that it can double or even triple the available space you have, it creates extra storage to maximise supply-chain operations, it is cheaper than renting additional premises for an extended period of time and they are designed specifically to your business needs so can be a cost efficient way to increase your business potential.

Floor Loadings

Our mezzanine floors are designed using the information we gain from detailed discussions with you about your business and operation. They can be designed to withstand almost all loadings required; however the most common weight allowances are 3.5KN, 4.8KN, 7.2KN & 9.6KN floors. We use 38mm particle board decking for most of our floor finishes.

Design

All of our floors are designed bespoke to your operational needs. We will attend site for an initial consultation gather all of the relevant information to offer the solutions to your needs.

Ancillaries

Edge Protection – For all exposed edges of the floor, we offer a sophisticated edge protection which incorporates handrail at the top and in the middle and a kick plate to prevent items falling. We can also offer mesh panels to increase the safety of falling products. In public settings, we offer a glass balustrade option, which is quite popular.

Staircases – These are essential for safe access and in the unlikely event of an evacuation. Through our consultation, we can advise on how many staircases you will need, this is based on the amount of use, distance travelled, and fire protection.

Pallet Gates – We offer two types of pallet gates, our up-and-over system which offers the highest level of safety and protection, and for larger pallets, we offer a recessed pallet gate with swing gates.

Fire Protection – This is offered on most floors, and especially when there will be operatives working continuously or for long periods of on the floor. This includes suspended ceilings, firewalls, column casings and staircase enclosures.

  1. Initial consultation: We begin by scheduling an initial consultation with you to discuss your needs, requirements, and goals for your mezzanine floor. During this consultation, we will gather information about your space, intended use of the mezzanine floor, and any specific design or functionality requests you may have.

  2. Customised design and layout plan: Based on the information gathered during the consultation, our team of experts will create a customised design and layout plan for your mezzanine floor. This plan will include detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications for your approval.

  3. Preparation and installation: Once you have approved the design and layout plan, we will begin preparing your space for the installation of the mezzanine floor. This may include site preparation, flooring installation, and any necessary structural modifications.
