Building Regulation document part K has been introduced and looks into the travel distances, floor area and number of employees using the mezzanine floor area. Below are some examples of the types of Staircases we can supply.
INDUSTRIAL MEZZANINE STAIRCASES
There are two types of Industrial Staircases.
General Access Staircase.
Where a Mezzanine floor only requires one staircases, then this should be a General Access Staircases.
- Maximum of Twelve treads rise between flights – and a landing is required.
- 1200mm wide treads
- Step nosing to be distinguishable
- 170mm maximum risers
- 250mm going of each step
- Risers to be infilled
- Handrail to continue past top & bottom step by 300mm
- A clearance 1200mm between landings and door swing
- 60mm clear finger gap to both sides and handrail
Utility Staircase.
Often referred to as an escape staircases. No landing is positioned and is a straight flight.
- No restrictions between flights – and a landing is required.
- 900mm wide treads
- 190mm maximum risers
- 250mm going of each step
- Open risers
